OMAHA, NE - Scoular Senior Manager Todd Strayer recently attended the American Shortline Railroad Association’s Railroad Day on Capitol Hill 2008 as a guest of the Eastern Idaho Railroad (EIRR) owned by Watco Companies, Inc.  Watco selected Scoular as one of a few key U.S. customers to meet with lobbyists, congressmen, and government agencies in Washington, D.C.

Strayer works in Scoular’s Jerome, ID facility for which the EIRR provides DDGS unit train, corn shuttle train, and single railcar service.  Scoular has worked closely with the EIRR and Watco since 2005 when Scoular began exploring the possibility of building the Jerome facility.   The Jerome facility was completed in June 2006 and handles dried distillers grains (DDGS), corn, and other feed ingredients for distribution to dairies in the Magic Valley Region of Idaho.

With nearly 270 mainline miles, the Eastern Idaho Railroad is one of the largest single shortline spin offs in Union Pacific history. Serving the agriculturally diverse areas of Idaho Falls and the Snake River, the EIRR carries a wide variety of products in its near 35,000 annual car load capacity.
