OMAHA, NE - The Scoular Company announced today that it has been advised by the Chinese government that 21 containers of the company’s soybeans have been denied importation into China and that future Scoular shipments to China have been temporarily suspended. Chuck Elsea, Scoular's Senior Vice President responsible for Intermodal Markets, said, “We understand that both the U.S. and Chinese governments have an important interest in controlling the quality of imported and exported products for the protection of trade and public safety. We will continue to cooperate with our customers and authorized agencies to resolve this matter.” Elsea also said that all of The Scoular Company’s contracts for products sold to customers in China are negotiated in detail on commercially accepted terms, including the terms that govern grain inspection and quality. He noted that Scoular has complied with all contractual requirements for the soybean shipments in question. |
