Facilities in Coolidge and Wellington, Kansas Receive SHARP Award
Ceremony Held to Commemorate Achievement

OMAHA, NE - A celebration commemorating the Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) Award took place today in Dodge City, Kansas. Scoular's Coolidge and Wellington, Kansas staff were congratulated and commended for earning the prestigious achievement.

In a note to The Scoular Company, Kansas Lieutenant Governor Mark Parkinson wrote, "Being recognized by OSHA as an employer who operates a safe and healthy work environment model is to be highly regarded. Continuing to implement and improve effective safety and health management systems at the work site is no small risk. Receipt of such recognition and presentation of this Achievement Award is commendable. I congratulate you and the dedicated employees of The Scoular Company." The Scoular Company's facilities in Coolidge and Wellington, Kansas , Downs, was awarded a certificate under the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) by the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

To qualify for SHARP, a business must have an exemplary safety and health record with a lost workday injury and illness rate below the national average for the company’s Standard Industrial Classification.  A written program incorporating four basic elements (management commitment and employee involvement, work site analysis, hazard prevention, and training) is also required.

Randy Inveigle, Scoular’s President and CEO, said receiving the SHARP Award further strengthens the company’s commitment to workplace safety and provides a goal for the company’s other facilities.  “At The Scoular Company, we work hard to run productive businesses and to meet the needs of our customers,” Inveigle said. “Our business goals are important. But we have no goal more important than protecting the safety of our employees.”
