OMAHA, NE – Employees of Scoular’s facility in Downs, Kansas, welcomed a group of more than a dozen sorghum industry representatives from Mexico earlier this month. The visit was part of a program sponsored by the U.S. Grains Council and the United Sorghum Checkoff Program to increase U.S. sorghum exports to Mexico.

The buyers, representing large livestock feeders and co-ops, toured five Kansas facilities as part of a buying mission to help build relationships between Mexican buyers and U.S. sorghum marketers.

“While at Downs, we led the representatives on a tour of our facility and invited them to observe us loading a wheat train,” said Kevin Heiman, Senior Market Manager for the Downs facility. “We also showed them our new CoverAll building to give them an understanding of the scope of our storage capacity.”

The same group of buyers that visited the Kansas facilities will return to the U.S. at a later date for similar tours throughout Nebraska, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas.
