OMAHA, NE – The Scoular Company announced today that its subsidiary Gardenview BioEnergy, LLC plans to construct a 100-million-gallon-per-year ethanol plant in Finney County, Kansas. Gardenview BioEnergy’s new plant will be part of the Sunflower Integrated Bioenergy Center, an alliance between the Kansas Bioscience Authority, the National Institute for Strategic Technology Acquisition and Commercialization (NISTAC) and Sunflower Electric Power Corporation.

Gardenview BioEnergy has negotiated a Letter of Intent with Fagen, Inc. of Granite Falls, Minnesota in connection with the development of the plant.  Construction of the Fagen/ICM plant is expected to begin in the fall of 2007 with production to commence approximately 18 months thereafter.  The plant will be served by the BNSF Railway.

John Heck, Senior Vice President with The Scoular Company, said that “the plant will continue Scoular’s expansion into the renewable fuels market segment and will bring the value of the company’s extensive grain shuttle network to the plant’s operation.”

The Scoular Company is a century-old agribusiness company committed to buying, selling, storing, handling and transporting grain and other agricultural products for use in food, feed and renewable fuel markets worldwide.
