OMAHA, NE - The Scoular Company announced today its plans to construct a 1.7-million bushel grain-handling facility in Holdrege, NE, bringing the total number of Scoular facilities in the state of Nebraska to thirteen. Although construction of the facility isn’t expected to be complete until the fall of 2007, Scoular has begun operating a grain merchandising business from an office in Holdrege. Dean Jones is the Holdrege office manager and merchandiser. Construction of the facility is expected to be underway in June 2007. Controlled Air, Inc. of Smith Center, KS is the general contractor for the project. The facility will be served by the Nebraska, Kansas & Colorado Railway (NKCR.) Scoular’s new facility will be well-positioned to provide a competitive market for local area producers and to meet the corn demand of ethanol plants and feedlots in central and western Nebraska and eastern Colorado. Scoular is a minority investor in ethanol plants in Sterling and Yuma, CO and has procurement agreements for plants in Madrid and Cambridge, NE. Mark Mossman, Senior Manager with The Scoular Company, said, “The construction of the new facility furthers the company’s commitment to the Nebraska agriculture marketplace and, more specifically, will add value to the bottom line for local producers. Scoular will bring the value of the company’s grain marketing network and its renewable fuels activities to the local marketplace.” He added that support from both the NKCR and Holdrege Industrial and Development Corporation was instrumental in bringing the project to fruition. The Scoular Company is a century-old agribusiness company committed to buying, selling, storing, handling and transporting grain and other agricultural products for use in food, feed and renewable fuel markets worldwide. |
