OMAHA, NE – The Scoular Company announced today that it began operating a grain-handling facility in Goodland, Kansas on May 1.  Mueller Grain Company owned and operated the Goodland facility for 58 years and will retain ownership of the asset.

Capable of loading out 25-car trains or trucks, the facility will be an added asset to Scoular’s origination network that serves cattle feeding operations in central and southwest Kansas with just-in-time shipments of corn.  In addition to corn, Scoular will handle millet, sunflowers and wheat.

Like Mueller Grain Company, Scoular is a privately-held company that has served the Kansas agricultural marketplace for more than 25 years.  In addition to its new Goodland operation, Scoular operates facilities in Salina, Downs, Wellington and Coolidge and has a merchandising office in Overland Park.

“Scoular has a strong interest in continuing the high level of personal service that the Mueller family has established,” said Neil Holstein, a senior Scoular manager who oversees operations at all of Scoular’s Kansas facilities.  Holstein also noted that Scoular is hoping to retain all of the facility’s present employees.

“We are committed to maintaining a local connection and a positive working relationship with Goodland area producers and the surrounding community,” said Holstein.  Scoular and Mueller will host a Customer Appreciation Day in Goodland on June 1.
