OMAHA – The Scoular Company announced today that it has assumed operation of the grain facilities owned by Farmers Grain Cooperative of Idaho. The principal facility is located in Ogden, Utah, with additional facilities in American Falls, Michaud, Malad, Grace and Bancroft, Idaho. These facilities give Scoular 6,950,000 bushels of grain storage space, in addition to the 360,000 bushels of space at the Ogden facility already owned by Scoular. Both of the Ogden facilities are served by the Utah Central Railway. The Bancroft, Michaud, and American Falls facilities are served by the Union Pacific Railroad.

In making this announcement, Scoular emphasized its commitment to the intermountain agriculture market, ranging from wheat and barley producers to the local feed mills and dairies. Todd McQueen, a Vice President in Scoular’s Omaha headquarters, said “Scoular looks forward to bringing its full range of marketing programs and services to this area.” “We believe the value of our services will create the foundation for a lasting presence in this marketplace.”, said McQueen.

Brent Shaffer, President of the Farmers Grain Cooperative, said “the Coop believes Scoular will bring to its membership a high-quality operator with the interests of local producers very much at heart. We believe Scoular’s nationwide marketing network will create excellent markets for our locally-produced grain backed by efficient and reliable local operations.”

In addition to the facility managers, Scoular’s intermountain business will be managed by Kevin Thompson in Scoular’s Preston, Idaho office and will also be supported by Todd Strayer in Scoular’s Twin Falls, Idaho office.
