OMAHA , NE –The Scoular Company announced the addition of two new shuttle-train loading facilities to its growing shuttle network, one in Alpena , SD served by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and the other in Fremont , NE served by Union Pacific Railroad. “The new capacity in both Alpena and Fremont will create additional market opportunities for local grain production in those areas, while providing additional shuttle-train origins with which we can serve our destination customers. We are pleased to invest in these communities where we are committed to owning and operating up-to-date facilities that serve strong markets,” said Randy Linville, President and CEO of The Scoular Company. Scoular will integrate the improved Alpena and Fremont facilities into its existing network of grain elevators and shuttle facilities. Improvements at Alpena and Fremont began in the spring of 2004, and resulted in allowing both facilities to load 110 and 100 railcars respectively in less than 15 hours. In Alpena, the facility’s truck unload rate also increased by 20,000 bushels per hour and an additional 425,000 bushels of bin space was created. Scoular is a century-old agribusiness company supplying grain and feed ingredients throughout North America. |
