OVERLAND PARK, KS - The Scoular Company announced today that it has acquired the Sullivan, Incorporated grain elevator facility in Coolidge , Kansas. The facility has space for approximately two million bushels of grain, which Scoular will use to handle primarily wheat, milo and corn. In the coming months, Scoular plans to upgrade the facility to load and unload BNSF 110-car shuttle trains. Terms of the transaction were not announced. According to Chuck Elsea, Scoular Senior Vice President, “Scoular’s plans to renovate this facility will enable our company to provide better service and more consistent markets to area country elevator and producer customers and give our end-user customers in the U.S. and Mexico another reliable source of quality wheat and sorghum. In addition, we will have the ability to serve dairy and cattle feedlot customers with inbound shipments of corn.” Scoular took over operations at the facility Monday of this week. Facility operations and management personnel who were formerly employed by Sullivan, Incorporated have been retained and will continue to support the facility under Scoular’s ownership. Scoular is a century-old agribusiness company supplying grain and feed ingredients throughout North America. |
