AMERICAN FALLS, ID – The Scoular Company’s grain handling facility in American Falls sustained damage yesterday after a fire broke out at a neighboring General Mills facility and spread to Scoular’s property. There were no injuries.

Several of Scoular’s wooden structures were a total loss. Three steel grain bins were also damaged, although the extent of the damage is not known at this time. The loss or damage to Scoular’s grain inventory in the damaged structures is yet to be determined.

Although the cause of the fire is under investigation, it is believed that the fire started during a planned demolition of a General Mills’ wooden crib elevator within close proximity to Scoular’s facility.
