OMAHA, NE -- The Scoular Company announced today its acquisition of a grain-handling facility in Wallace, Nebraska from Kansas City-based Corn Belt, Inc. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Prior to its purchase, Scoular operated the facility for more than 20 years under long-term lease agreements. “The purchase of the Wallace facility was a natural step in our on-going commitment to serve grain producers and end-users in Western Nebraska. Buying, selling, storing and handling grain is what we do in this market. We will continue to invest in our businesses to ensure our ability to provide superior service to our customers,” said Mark Mossman of Omaha, Senior Manager of the company’s Processor Markets Division. Also in Western Nebraska, Scoular has projects underway at its Grainton and Hershey facilities to increase harvest capacity. The company is in the process of installing a one-million bushel, covered circle piling system at each facility. Mossman describes the benefits of the new system as being two-fold. He explains that not only will the piling systems increase each facility’s available storage space, but they also will allow trucks to unload faster. Each piling area will have two dump pits and a conveyor system with an unload speed of 15,000 bushels-per-hour. The Scoular Company, Omaha, NE, is a century-old agribusiness company committed to buying, selling, storing, handling and transporting grain and feed and food ingredients worldwide. |
