Company Continues Increased College Recruitment Effort
OMAHA, NE – The Scoular Company is pleased to announce that Dustin Ebenkamp, Cassie Johnson, and Jessica Leete will be joining the company’s Merchant Trainee Program this month. A native of Texas, Ebenkamp is a graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, and Johnson and Leete are both from Iowa and hold degrees from Iowa State University in Ames and Simpson College in Indianola, respectively.
Scoular’s Merchant Trainee Program was developed two years ago in response to the company’s desire to identify, hire and train the next generation of commodity merchants. During that same timeframe, the company also increased its presence and college recruitment activity on six college campuses throughout the Midwest and became an active participant in Agriculture Future of America, a not-for-profit organization that provides leader and career development training for college men and women and young professionals in the agriculture industry.
“Scoular’s business is growing and subsequently we have a high need for new talent. We’ve made a conscious decision to focus on college recruitment to source that talent,” said Yvonne Lutz, Scoular’s Director of Human Resources who heads up the company’s college recruitment program.
According to Job Outlook 2008, an annual survey of college recruiters conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, Scoular is not alone. The 2008 Outlook reports that employers plan to hire 16 percent more new college graduates in 2007-08 than they did in 2006-07, and that hiring projections are strong across the board – regardless of industry, economic sector, or geographic region. Hiring expectations are especially strong in the Midwest, where employers anticipate hiring 25 percent more new college graduates this year.
