Paoli Farmers Coop and Scoular Partner on Grain Marketing & Handling
March 16, 2015
Paoli Farmers Cooperative and The Scoular Company jointly announce that the two companies have formed an agreement to partner on grain marketing and handling activities at the cooperative’s facility in Paoli, Colorado.
“We’ve always been committed to serving area producers and staying current to meet their needs, from updating our facility to offering new marketing programs and lots of things in between,” says Steve Bahnsen, manager of the Paoli Coop. “Our agreement with Scoular is just another step to further our commitment to provide a sustainable competitive market for our patrons’ wheat and corn production.”
Bahnsen says Scoular’s strong presence in Nebraska and Colorado interfaces nicely with Paoli Coop’s grain operation, citing in particular Scoular’s shuttle train facility in Venango, Nebraska, and the company’s rail-to-truck transload operation in Sterling, Colorado. He further notes that Scoular brings a vast amount of market knowledge and transportation / logistics expertise that will benefit the independent cooperative’s local operation.
“We’ve worked with the Paoli Cooperative for many years, and we’re pleased to partner with them in such a way that allows both of us to grow our separate businesses,” says Mark Mossman, who oversees Scoular’s Nebraska and eastern Colorado grain elevator operations. “Our job is to connect locally produced grain to the best market, whether that’s down the road, across the country, or around the world. We’ll be working with Paoli Cooperative to do just that, leveraging the knowledge that we glean from our extensive grain marketing network.”
