Goodland Facility Employees Show Exemplary Commitment to Safety
OMAHA, NE – The Scoular Company’s Goodland, Kansas grain-handling facility recently earned membership in OSHA’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).
Goodland employees achieved an excellent workplace safety record qualifying the facility for this exclusive safety and health incentive and recognition program, joining 13 other Scoular facilities that have received the SHARP Award.
Employees of the Goodland facility accepted the SHARP award on April 20, 2010 at a ceremony held at the Bricks Cafe in Goodland. Accepting the award was Facility Business Manager, Jeff Bhend. “I am very proud of my staff and their hard work that made this achievement possible,” said Bhend. “This award is not an end, but merely recognition of Scoular’s ongoing pledge to keep our employees safe.”
Through SHARP, OSHA recognizes smaller employers who operate exemplary safety and health management systems. SHARP is designed to provide incentives and support to employers who implement and continuously improve effective safety and health management systems at their work sites. SHARP may be renewed for sites that continue to maintain exemplary safety and health management systems. All SHARP companies are exempt from programmed OSHA inspections from one to two years.
