Five Scoular Grain-Handling Facilities in Nebraska Earn Workplace Safety Award

Omaha, Nebraska, November 8, 2016 – Scoular, one of the largest grain storage and handling companies in North America, announced that its facilities in Big Springs, Brandon, Lamar, South Grant, and Venango, Nebraska, continue to meet the requirements for participation in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) SHARP award. The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) award is given to employers who operate an exemplary injury and illness prevention program.

“I am pleased to work for a company that focuses their efforts in ensuring a safe workplace for our employees. These five southwest Nebraska facilities have taken the necessary steps to achieve this recognition and earn this prestigious award,” said Rick Matousek, Scoular’s Facility Manager. “I am very proud of their accomplishment.”

SHARP is designed to provide recognition and support to employers who implement and continuously improve effective safety and health management systems at their work sites. All SHARP companies are exempt from programmed OSHA inspections from one to three years.

These five southwest Nebraska facilities focus on supplying wheat, milo and corn to the US and export markets.
