The Scoular Company continues to do its part to comply with the new Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulations to ensure a safe food supply. Two of its employees recently completed the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) Lead Instructor Animal Food Training Course.
With this certification in place, Scoular will begin internal training of other employees as Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) as recognized and required by the FSMA. These individuals will lead Scoular’s efforts to implement and oversee the company’s food safety plans and programs as required by the FSMA.
The FSMA, the most sweeping reform of U.S. food safety laws in more than 70 years, was signed into law by President Obama on January 4, 2011. It aims to ensure the U.S. food supply is safe by shifting the focus from a reactionary compliance measure to proactive approach.
