Scoular CEO awards 13 college scholarships

OMAHA, Nebraska (March 18, 2024) – Thirteen students will receive college scholarships through a program funded by Scoular’s CEO Paul Maass and his wife, Julie. 

The Paul & Julie Maass Scholarship program launched three years ago to support the children of Scoular and Petsource employees.  

Nine $5,000 scholarships and four $2,500 scholarships were awarded this month for the 2024-25 academic year. The recipients are high school seniors or college students. Selection was based on financial need, demonstration of compassion for others, leadership, and GPA.  

“Julie and I are grateful to be in a position to support employees’ children in the pursuit of their dreams of earning a college degree,” said Paul Maass. “We hope this support makes a positive impact for each of these fantastic students and their families. Congratulations to this year’s recipients and best wishes for a successful academic year.” 

$5,000 winners: 

  • Charlie Bales, daughter of Robert Bales, Fremont, Nebraska 
  • Emma Heppner, daughter of Mark Heppner, Pittsburg, Kansas 
  • Nirvana Krocak, daughter of Steve Krocak, Minneapolis 
  • Bailey Nessen, daughter of Brandon Nessen, Ogden, Utah 
  • Manuel Ordaz, son of Rocio Ordaz, Seward, Nebraska 
  • Briella Rubio, daughter of Mike Rubio, Goodland, Kansas 
  • Isaiah Rubio, son of Mike Rubio, Goodland, Kansas 
  • Jackson Sinsel, son of Rebecca Sinsel, Sutherland, Nebraska 
  • Shawnelle Smith, daughter of Jason Smith, Pittsburg, Kansas 

 

$2,500 winners:

  • Jordan Peck, daughter of Diana Peck, Salina, Kansas 
  • Gerardo Pena, Scoular employee, Goodland, Kansas
