OGALLALA, Nebraska (Aug. 19, 2025) – Scoular’s farmer advisor group – now in its third year – welcomed new members during its summer gathering, plus toured a key Scoular grain facility and ethanol plant partner in western Nebraska.
Scoular established the Farmer Advisory Roundtable Members group, or FARM, in 2023.The mission is to develop a trusted advisory relationship with forward-thinking producers. The group provides a way for farmers to learn from each other and Scoular to learn from them.
The advisors, for example, have helped Scoular better understand what producers want most in ag tech tools and grain marketing, shared their expertise in regenerative agriculture and represented Scoular on an industry producer panel.
“These advisors are making decisions every day that impact their operations – their firsthand knowledge of what’s important to a farmer’s success guides our decisions,” said Melissa Norem, a General Manager who leads Scoular’s Producer Strategy efforts. “Their insights help us serve our producers more effectively and provide better solutions.”
During the advisors’ recent two-day gathering, they toured Scoular’s high-speed shuttle loading facility in Grainton, Nebraska, and visited the nearby Mid America Agri Products/Wheatland’s ethanol plant. Scoular this year became the new formalized supplier of grain and logistics for the plant. The group wrapped up their tours with a visit to a former advisor’s family farm operation near Venango, Nebraska.
New members who joined the group are: Taylor Currie, Gypsum, Kansas; Heath Koehn, Montezuma, Kansas; Andrew Philps, Loomis, Nebraska; Jeremy Hagan, Madrid, Nebraska; Mark Schwerdfeger, Coolidge, Kansas; Cliff Leach, Bird City, Kansas; and Shane Gray, Waverly, Illinois.
They joined existing members: Todd Tobin, Iuka, Kansas; Jerry DeWeese, Pratt, Kansas; Jeff O’Connor, Kankakee, Illinois; Kyle Campbell, Asbury, Missouri; and Johnnie Witt, Missouri Valley, Iowa.
