Scoular Acquires Site in Aberdeen, Idaho

OMAHA, NE (May 7, 2015) – The Scoular Company will be providing area farmers in eastern Idaho a new competitive destination for their grain this summer. Scoular recently finalized the purchase of a 10-acre site along the Union Pacific (UP) Railroad in Aberdeen, Idaho, where the company plans to construct a new grain-handling facility. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“Construction is expected to begin immediately, and we anticipate having the ability to accept grain by harvest,” said Kevin Thompson, Scoular’s Director who oversees the company’s trading activity in Idaho, Utah, and the Pacific Northwest. In addition to the Aberdeen site, Scoular operates 10 other grain storage and handling locations in Idaho. Thompson noted that the newly acquired site fits well with Scoular’s broader grain trading and handling activities in eastern Idaho, and it directly complements the company’s existing operations in Idaho and Utah.

“We look forward to bringing the benefits of an additional, convenient location to farmers in this area,” said Thompson. In addition to quick unloading, Thompson says producers can count on Scoular to provide a competitive market for their grain. “The combination of our existing facilities and this new site will connect area farmers to marketing opportunities made possible through our access to global markets.”
